Shreveport Horror: Eight Children Slain in Domestic Rampage
Shreveport, Louisiana — New details are emerging in what officials are now calling one of the darkest days in the city’s history, after a domestic-related shooting left eight children dead and multiple others wounded early Sunday morning.
Authorities confirmed the victims ranged in age from just 1 to 14 years old. In total, at least 10 people were shot across multiple locations in the Cedar Grove neighborhood, turning what began as a single call into a sprawling and chaotic crime scene. Two adult women survived the attack but remain in critical condition, one fighting for her life. A young boy was also injured while attempting to escape the violence.
Police now say the scene stretched across as many as three to four separate locations, including multiple homes, underscoring the scale and intensity of the attack. Investigators are still reconstructing how the violence unfolded so rapidly across the neighborhood.
The suspected gunman, believed to have had close ties to several of the victims, fled the area immediately after the shootings, carjacking a vehicle and leading officers on a pursuit. The chase ended with the suspect dead. Authorities are still working to determine whether he was killed by police gunfire or died by suicide during the confrontation.
Officials continue to emphasize that the attack appears to be domestic in nature, not a random act, though a clear motive has not yet been released. The identities of the victims and the suspect have also not been officially disclosed as families are being notified.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux described the incident as a tragedy beyond comprehension, calling it “perhaps the worst we have ever seen” in the city of roughly 190,000 residents near the Texas border.
As investigators work through the expanding crime scene, grief has settled heavily over the community. What remains are unanswered questions, shattered families, and a city struggling to understand how such an act of violence could unfold within its own neighborhoods.
