What an incredible tragedy.
In Oklahoma City, USA, a large family lives under one roof - mother Jenny Callazzo (37), who runs a boutique; husband Sonny (42), a marketing manager; their six children; and Jenny's grandmother, who has Alzheimer's disease.
The family's twins fell victim to this insidious disease on Thursday. Because their great-grandmother left the door to the outside open, the 18-month-olds could get into the backyard and fall into the pool - where they drowned.
Locklyn and Loreli, a girl and boy, were discovered at the bottom of the pool. Emergency doctors fought for their lives but had to pronounce the two children dead after two hours, according to the " New York Post."
Police ruled out foul play.
For information: drowning happens silently and not - as often misrepresented in movies - by screaming and waving arms. Instead, the victims have a mouth full of water and can no longer call.
