After nearly two years, the Cabaret On Sundays Series will return to Palm Desert's Arthur Newman Theater on Sunday, November 7, 2021. The series, presented by Les Michaels of Life Is A Cabaret, announced he is implementing a few changes, beginning with a new 3:00 PM showtime for all shows; in the past, showtime was 2:00 PM. Now, doors will open at 2:00 PM with immediate seating. Instead of two seasons; Summer, and Winter, there will only be one expanded season beginning in November and running through May of the following year. In this case, the final show is Nov. 26th and features 26 different shows and performers, including many of the desert's most recognized singers like; Keisha D, Leslie Tinnaro, Jerome Elliott, Douglas Graham, Bonnie Gilgallon, Francesca Amari, and more, as well as some very exciting out of town talent from Los Angeles and New York City. Some of the Musical Directors this season are talented locals; Wayne Abravanel and Joel Baker. Tickets for all shows will remain $15.00 cash only at the door. "We want to keep the admission reasonable and affordable for everyone, especially those retired and on a fixed income," added Les Michaels.
Headlining the Sunday, Nov. 7th opening show this season is former Fabulous Palm Springs Follies star Marcia Harp. Ms. Harp is a very popular local entertainer that previously performed six different shows for Cabaret On Sundays and has built up a large following of fans. Marcia is also a popular teacher specializing in Voice, Dance, Aerobics, and Zumba, mainly at the many local retirement communities. For her current show entitled "Have You Given Up This Time?", Marcia will accompany her musical director Mark Kahny on the theater's baby grand piano.
The Arthur Newman Theater, located in the Joslyn Center at 73750 Catalina Way in Palm Desert, Ca., "is a real hidden gem," says Les Michaels. He has presented the Cabaret On Sundays shows there since 2008, "with seating for up to 180, a professional stage and curtains, dressing room for artists, and recently upgraded sound and lighting.
