DLNews Congress:
A recent congressional hearing took a heated turn when a Republican senator, Markwayne Mullin, challenged the head of one of America's largest unions, Sean M. O'Brien, to a fight.
The two began a heated exchange over O'Brien's salary and Mullin's wealth, which escalated when Mullin read a tweet from O'Brien calling him a "clown and fraud."
Mullin, a former MMA fighter, stood up, ready to fight. Still, Bernie Sanders, who was present at the hearing, intervened and managed to calm things down by asking Mullin to sit down and reminding everyone that the American people already have enough contempt for Congress.
Despite Sanders' best efforts, the exchange continued for about six minutes before the next senator took over the questioning. Later, Mullin and O'Brien were seen laughing together at an off-the-record briefing. It is not the first time the two have clashed during committee meetings. A few months ago, O'Brien called Mullin a "greedy CEO.”
