Destiny Wiggins was found dead in a car. Her two children survived - they witnessed the terrible act
DLNews Crime:
When a construction company in the US state of North Carolina employees came to work in the morning, they made a gruesome discovery in the parking lot.
They found the bodies of two adults in an abandoned car - and two small children in the back seat. The alleged killer had shot the victims - a woman and a man - and left the children alive.
According to media reports, the police assume they sat in the car's back seat all night with temperatures around freezing. The dead woman is said to be the mother of the two children. So the little ones had to watch helplessly as their mother was murdered.
The two children were unharmed, according to police, but were taken to a hospital to be on the safe side. After a short period of care, they were handed over to relatives.
Devone Brown was also shot. He was Wiggins' partner.
WRAL reports that the victims are Destiny Wiggins (24) and Devone Brown (28), her partner.
A suspect was arrested shortly after the murder. Eric Coley, 42, has been charged with double first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a criminal, police said.
Alleged perpetrator Eric Coley is due to appear in court for the first time on Monday.
He was committed to the Nash County Jail. The first court date has been set for the following Monday.
Further charges could be added during the investigation as police continue. What led to the bloody deed is still unclear.
