RANCHO MIRAGE, CA – Reopening for an eleventh season on Wednesday, Sept. 14, Sunnylands Center & Gardens revives its free outdoor movie series, Films in the Gardens, with a trio of films based on Agatha Christie’s murder mystery novels.
Screened on three consecutive Fridays in September, the movies are:
Sept. 16 — Murder on the Orient Express (1974) — In December 1935, when his transcontinental luxury train is stranded by deep snow, detective Hercule Poirot is called on to solve a murder that occurred in his car the previous night, with a multitude of suspects. (IMDb)

Sept. 23 — Death on the Nile (1978) — Hercule Poirot is enjoying a luxurious cruise down the Nile, when a newlywed heiress is found murdered on board. Can Poirot identify the killer before the ship reaches the end of its journey? (IMDb)

Sept. 30 — Evil Under the Sun (1982) — As he investigates how a millionaire wound up with a phony diamond, Hercule Poirot is led to an exclusive island resort frequented by the rich and famous. When a murder is committed, everyone has an alibi. (IMDb)

All films begin at 7:30 p.m., with Sunnylands gates opening at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
While reservations are not required, carpooling is strongly encouraged. No food or seating is provided. Filmgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and small picnics. Large coolers, alcohol, smoking, and pets are not permitted.
Films may be canceled anytime due to weather conditions, including rain, lightning, or strong winds. Films in the Gardens is presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
