Naomi Lewis (42) has given birth to four children. But none of the deliveries was as bad as her encounter with the Australian stinging nettle (Dendrocnide moroides).

The horror plant, known as Gympie Gympie, burned the 42-year-old's body extensively. ABC News reports that.

The woman from Cairns (Queensland state) was out in nature with her husband. On the way, she stumbled - and fell into the botany. "That was the worst pain ever. Terrible, absolutely terrible," Lewis said.

In Queensland, numerous signs warn of the horror plant.

The couple drove their car to a nearby pharmacy. Her husband Richard bought bulk cold wax strips, usually used for depilation there. They placed the rags on the hood to heat the wax and then on Naomi's legs.

By the time the ambulance arrived, the Lewis couple wanted to remove at least some of the poisonous barbed hairs from the nettle. But the 42-year-old's condition worsened, and Naomi even vomited. To her husband, she said, "I can't take this."

From the emergency room, it went directly to the ward; the doctors treated the patient with the help of electric blankets and painkillers. The mother of four had to spend a week in the hospital. The accident was in June last year, and it wasn't until Christmas that Lewis could stop taking the medication.

 

More than nine months after the bath in the horror nettles - the Australian is still in pain. It feels like someone is snapping rubber bands on severely hypothermic legs.
