For ex-President Donald Trump (76), it should be lonely Christmas days in his Florida resort Mar-a-Lago, at least from a political point of view.
He had grand ambitions this year - but there were setbacks: Trump had never seemed so battered. Jail seems closer than returning to the Oval Office.
The low point just before the end of Trump's term was the Capitol storming in Washington on January 6, 2021, fueled by the President himself.

Does Trump only believe in himself?
One thing is clear: in the congressional elections in November, Trump wanted to lead his Republicans to victory as a "kingmaker," chose candidates, and toured the country.
But there was no political landslide: the Democrats held the Senate and only narrowly lost the House of Representatives. And Trump? He was suddenly in the pillory himself: his "Make America Great Again" people lost in droves.
There was only one real winner: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (44). He is now his most dangerous inner-party rival.
