Coach: "Stand up, hold your head high and show them what you've got!"
While the mullahs kill and torture their own people, more and more courageous actions and images are coming out of Iran.
Now the entire Iranian women's basketball team, "Canco Canada," is rejecting their headscarves in protest!
The photo shared by the team's head coach, Farzaneh Jamami, shows the brave female athletes wearing red jerseys in a gym. The female coaches stand in the middle, all wearing a black ensembles - a sign of mourning in Iran.
Jamami uploaded the image to her Instagram account and wrote an encouraging message for Iranian women who are currently fighting for freedom.
"Teach your daughter that such things as gender roles are nothing but nonsense. Teach them that you are valuable and irreplaceable. If you are told otherwise, don't believe it," Jamami wrote.
This is how the women's basketball team (Canco Canada) usually has to wear headscarves
She continued, "Don't hide. Stand up, hold your head high and show them what you have! Tell them that you are strong and capable and a woman of freedom."
Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, there has been a mandatory headscarf for women in Iran. This law also applies to all female athletes in the Islamic country, especially when competing abroad.
After the death of the young Kurdish woman Jina Masah Amini, many sportswomen and actresses rejected their headscarves and showed solidarity with the current protests.
Commenting on the brave photo of the Canco-Canada team, American-Iranian activist and journalist Masih Alinejad (46) said: "Another cultural earthquake. An Iranian women's basketball team took off its hijab and posted a photo without a headscarf on Instagram to protest the mainstay of a gender apartheid regime."
