After the funeral service in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, the Queen's coffin was lowered into the Royal Tomb. This ended the public part of Elizabeth II's state funeral on Monday evening.

With her burial in the King George VI Memorial Chapel, a separate part of St George's Chapel, Elizabeth II will be reunited with her parents, her sister Princess Margaret and her husband, Prince Philip.

The Queen's service is over

The funeral service for Queen Elizabeth († 96) has ended. Mourners leave St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. At 8.30 p.m., the Queen will be buried in private in the chapel crypt.
