The HV.1 coronavirus mutation is rising in the USA - and significantly so!

The world is witnessing yet another new coronavirus variant and this time, it's HV.1. According to the American Health Association's Vice President, Andrea Garcia, we must keep an eye on it. HV.1, a direct descendant of Eris, is highly contagious and spreading rapidly in the USA. It's responsible for most COVID-19 cases and has surpassed previous mutations like Eris, Pirola, and JN.1.

One of the most concerning aspects of HV.1 is that it attacks the bronchial tubes more strongly than other coronavirus variants. This can trigger chronic bronchitis and cause a cough syndrome that lasts beyond your recovery from other symptoms. Dr. William Schaffner, Professor of Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, warns that HV.1 seems to be causing this kind of chronic bronchitis.

The symptoms of HV.1 are similar to those of other Omikron variants, including sore throat, runny nose, cough, fatigue, headache, fever, chills, and muscle aches. Although researchers are still investigating whether HV.1 is more contagious than other mutations, it's highly infectious and accounts for 25.2 percent of COVID-19 cases in the USA.

However, there is some good news. Researchers have found that HV.1 is not as severe as JN.1, a variant with many changes to the spike protein, allowing the virus to enter cells more quickly.
