Grand Fuhr Golf Tournament
Story and Photos by Pat Krause
The Annual Grand Fuhr Celebrity Golf Tournament Invitational, in partnership with One Valley Foundation this year, made an already popular event even stronger in purpose and reach. The tournament was held December 13 and 14 at Desert Willow Golf Resort and once again delivered a memorable weekend of golf, camaraderie, and community support. Grant Fuhr, a Hockey Hall of Fame legend, serves as President of One Valley Foundation and is the founder of the Grant Fuhr Foundation. Both organizations share a common mission: enriching youth sports throughout the Coachella Valley. All funds raised from the tournament go directly toward that goal.

The local Coachella Valley Firebirds were proudly represented in this year’s tournament, continuing their long-standing involvement in golf events that raise money for young people in the region. This year’s Grand Fuhr Tournament will benefit 14 different youth sports groups, a meaningful impact that reflects the heart of the event. The field was filled with an impressive mix of Hall of Fame football players, celebrities, local dignitaries, and several Acrisure Arena Coachella Valley hockey players, creating a truly special experience for all involved. The tournament sold out early, a clear sign of its growing popularity, so those interested in supporting these great organizations should be sure to mark their calendars for next year.

Host and Hall of Fame Hockey great Grant Fuhr, Football star Sterling,
Saturday night featured the always-anticipated Pairings Party, complete with dinner and entertainment, held this year at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa in Palm Desert. Golfers learned who they would be playing with, whether a celebrity, a Firebirds hockey player, or both. The excitement in the room was easy to feel, as many participants discovered they would be sharing the course with a favorite athlete or public figure. The evening also provided a chance to reconnect with friends and welcome back the many golfers who return year after year to support the tournament’s mission and enjoy the warm, welcoming atmosphere it creates.
Sunday was golf day, with an early start following breakfast provided by Desert Willow. Players enjoyed a beautiful day on the course, capped off by a delicious luncheon and a lively awards presentation. While the awards were fun, the true focus of the day was the golfing experience and the camaraderie shared among participants. The weather could not have been better, providing the perfect setting for a memorable round.
Grant Fuhr remains committed to growing this legacy and expanding its impact, with a clear vision of supporting the next generation of athletes and strengthening youth programs across the Coachella Valley. The Grand Fuhr Celebrity Golf Tournament has become one of the most anticipated golf events in the desert, and its influence continues to grow with each passing year.
