The warehouse had ten massive metal shelves, each holding 1,600 wheels (each weighing 90 pounds) for maturing. When Giacomo Chiapparini wanted to turn and clean the loaves with a machine, a shelf fell over for unclear reasons. In a deadly domino effect, the dairy farmer was buried by more than 15,000 Grana Padano!

The victim's son and a few employees heard the shelves falling. They called 911. 21 fire brigade units with 118 officers came from the surrounding towns to rescue Giacomo Chiapparini from the cheese masses with their bare hands.

Daughter Mary: “In 1977, my father started with 26 cattle, a tractor, a backhoe, half a shed, and some land. He started building the first barn and sold the raw material to processing companies, winning quality awards.”
Today there are several stables, warehouses, dairy, the maturing warehouse, the shop, the office, the milking parlor, and family homes in the multiple award-winning businesses.
