LOS ANGELES, CA. – Landmarks and municipal buildings coast to coast, from Los Angeles City Hall to Boston’s Zakim Bridge and Florida’s Guitar Hotel, illuminated in blue and white – Israel’s national colors -- honoring the Jewish state’s 73rd Independence Day on April 14 as part of the Israeli-American Council (IAC) “Celebrate Israel” festival.
These unprecedented tributes to Israel began the night of April 14 and ran through Sunday, April 18. Among the landmarks and buildings are Boston’s City Hall and Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge, Cleveland’s Terminal Tower, Denver City Hall, the Charles Braga Memorial Bridge in Fall River, MA, the Guitar Hotel at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood, FL, Houston City Hall, Las Vegas City Hall, Los Angeles City Hall, Lake Orlando in Orlando, FL, Rockville, MD City Hall, representing the Washington, DC region, and borough halls in New Jersey communities with sizable Israeli-American populations including Closter, Demarest, Fairlawn, Fort Lee, New Milford and Tenafly, as well as the Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs.
Celebrate Israel will culminate in a global musical extravaganza featuring a star-studded lineup of major Israeli artists, live-streamed across the US from Israel’s famous Jerusalem International Convention Center, at 7 PM ET / 7:45 PM PT on Sunday, April 18. Stars will include Idan Raichel Project, Rami Kleinstein; T-Slam; and Sarit Hadad.
This first-ever hybrid experience for the Jewish world will connect Israelis, American-Israelis and Diaspora Jews in a historic, unique global gathering from coast to coast. Celebrate Israel events across the country will feature big outdoor screens so participants can experience the magic of this special event.
Surrounding the global concert, Celebrate Israel events will include uniquely Israeli festivities in New York’s Times Square; a drive-through car parade in St. Louis; an Israeli-style tailgate party with family activities in the Boston suburb of Randolph. An outdoor celebration for families and pods that recreates Israeli sites in Atlanta; a backgammon tournament in Rochester, NY; a drive-in event with an Israeli DJ and food in Las Vegas; a drive-in, car-decorating event with a live DJ, food and other activities in LA and many other special events nationwide featuring Israeli food trucks, children’s activities and much more.
