While gorging themselves on fast food…
The horror parents Sage Wright (24) and Christian Bishop-Torrence (26) have let the girl starve to death - while the 340-kilo couple mainly fed on fast food.
In court, the man has now pleaded guilty to murder. His wife will be tried at a later date.
At the trial in Texas, the circumstances of the death became public: the 26-year-old was in June 2021 with a buddy and his daughter on the way to a fast-food restaurant when Georgia suddenly developed severe shortness of breath. Bishop-Torrence instructed Sage Wright to take the toddler to the hospital. There, the one-year-old died about 20 minutes later.
Hospital staff immediately notified police because the girl's body was so emaciated: Georgia weighed just 8.4 pounds – the average for a child her age would be 20 to 23 pounds.
At the trial, the medical examiner who performed the autopsy on the small body called Georgia's condition "severely malnourished." In addition, the body had wounds all over its body. The medical examiner concluded that the one-year-old had been starved to death.
The investigating prosecutor had gone to the hospital and viewed the body the night of the death. He said, "I'll never forget that; that was horrible."
Christian Bishop-Torrence faces up to 30 years in prison. The exact sentence is still pending. However, because he admitted to the murder, the Texan escaped the death penalty.
Georgia's mother is in a Wichita Falls jail, awaiting trial. Sage White is also charged with murder. It is unknown if the woman, who weighs 173 pounds according to court documents, will also plead guilty.
The couple has two other children together; they are also malnourished. However, authorities believe they will recover because they are older than their dead sibling.
