Palm Springs City Council Votes Unanimously In Favor Of New Short-Term Rental Limits
The fundamental changes are:
- The moratorium on new rental permit applications ends immediately
- Neighborhoods are capped at 20% saturation (although several neighborhoods will continue to exceed the cap for the foreseeable future, as existing licenses, as well as those submitted before the moratorium on Oct 17, are grandfathered)
- The number of times a home can be rented per year is reduced to 26 from 36 (effective immediately for new applicants, but not effective until Jan 1, 2026, for existing permit holders)
- Establishment of a new "junior permit" that allows up to six rentals per year and is not subject to the 20% neighborhood cap.
