Palm Springs City Council Votes Unanimously In Favor Of New Short-Term Rental Limits

The fundamental changes are:

Neighborhoods are capped at 20% saturation (although several neighborhoods will continue to exceed the cap for the foreseeable future, as existing licenses, as well as those submitted before the moratorium on Oct 17, are grandfathered)

The number of times a home can be rented per year is reduced to 26 from 36 (effective immediately for new applicants, but not effective until Jan 1, 2026, for existing permit holders)

Establishment of a new "junior permit" that allows up to six rentals per year and is not subject to the 20% neighborhood cap.
