WASHINGTON – In a dramatic escalation, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American forces have carried out what he described as a “very successful attack” on three key Iranian nuclear facilities. Posting Saturday on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed the targets—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—were hit with a “full load of bombs,” including the deeply buried Fordow uranium enrichment site.
“All U.S. aircraft involved have safely left Iranian airspace,” Trump said, offering no details on the type of jets or weaponry used, but declaring, “No other military in the world could have done this.” He punctuated his announcement with a striking pivot: “Now is the time for peace.”

The move follows weeks of mounting tension between Iran, Israel, and the West. While Israel launched a sweeping air campaign on June 13 aimed at halting Iran’s suspected nuclear weapons development, Tehran responded with a barrage of missiles and drones. Iran has long denied it seeks a bomb, but recent reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency indicate the country has amassed uranium enriched up to 60 percent—a short technical step from weapons-grade.
Among the facilities struck, Fordow stood out. Located 100 meters beneath a mountain near Tehran, it's considered immune to most conventional munitions—except one: the American-made GBU-57 bunker-buster bomb. According to experts, only the U.S. military possesses the capability to strike such a deeply buried site. The GBU-57 can punch through over 60 meters of concrete and rock and is typically deployed by B-2 Spirit stealth bombers.

Military observers noted the recent disappearance of B-2 bombers from Diego Garcia, a key U.S. base in the Indian Ocean. By Saturday, intelligence sources confirmed to Reuters that B-2s had been deployed and took part in the strikes.
Valued at over $2.1 billion per unit, the B-2 is the crown jewel of U.S. strategic air power. Designed to evade advanced air defense systems, it delivers high-precision payloads against fortified targets—like Fordow.
Iran has yet to confirm the extent of the damage. Meanwhile, the international community braced for potential fallout as both rhetoric and firepower reached new heights in a volatile region already at the brink.
