Stage Lights & Show Tunes: The Roost Lounge Debuts “The Roost Revue” with Broadway Flair and Local Soul
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA – This summer, Cathedral City’s beloved Roost Lounge is turning up the volume—and the charm—with the launch of The Roost Revue, a sparkling new monthly cabaret series that blends song, story, and theatrical magic in an intimate setting. Curated and hosted by award-winning local performer Jason Mannino, the Revue promises to be a joyful, unexpected journey through the voices and visions of top talent from across the Coachella Valley and beyond.
“Cabaret thrives on connection,” says Mannino. “The goal is to create a space that’s as joyful and surprising for the audience as it is meaningful for the performers. It’s part salon, part variety show, part homecoming.”
The Roost Revue kicks off on Tuesday, August 27 at 7 p.m., setting the stage for a dynamic season of unforgettable nights. The premiere lineup is nothing short of star-studded:
Broadway veteran Joe Savant will bring his powerhouse vocals and larger-than-life stage presence to The Roost. Known for roles as both Gastón and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Joe has appeared in national and international tours of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby, The Unsinkable Molly Brownwith Debbie Reynolds, Aida, Evita, and The Mitzi Gaynor Show. Local audiences may also recognize him from his acclaimed performances with Desert Theatricals, including Emile de Becque in South Pacific and again as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast.
Joining him is celebrated local performer and educator Jaci Davis, a cabaret staple and recipient of eight Desert Star Awards. Jaci recently took home honors for her original cabaret/revue that premiered last spring at the Revolution Stage Company—proof that her voice and presence continue to dazzle both audiences and critics.
The evening’s music director is the incomparable Chip Prince, whose career spans Broadway and national tours. A seasoned conductor and pianist, Chip’s credits include Newsies, Les Misérables, Sunset Boulevard, Miss Saigon, Mary Poppins, Ragtime, The Fantasticks, Deaf West’s Big River, Baz Luhrmann’s La Bohème, and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. His virtuosity on the keys will anchor each performance with style and musical brilliance.
This bold new series is expected to run monthly through the end of 2025, transforming The Roost Lounge into a regular cabaret haven. From Broadway belters and jazz stylists to drag icons and comedic storytellers, The Roost Revue will feature a revolving door of exceptional performers—each night a singular celebration of artistry, community, and connection.
At the heart of it all is Jason Mannino, whose return to the stage after a two-decade hiatus has reignited the local cabaret scene. A gifted actor, host, and producer, Mannino brings humor, heart, and a deep respect for the art form to every show. His vision for The Roost Revue is simple: bring people together through shared stories, laughter, and the kind of live music that stirs something deep.
Whether you’re a lifelong lover of cabaret or simply curious about a fresh kind of night out, The Roost Revue invites you to sip something fabulous, settle into the glow, and be transported.
Don’t miss the premiere on August 27 at 7 p.m.—cabaret has found its new home at The Roost.
