DLNews Crime:
At least six people were gunned down at a school in Oakland, California.
The danger on site has now been banned, said a police spokesman. According to the authorities, the injured were taken to hospitals; three are in mortal danger.
Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf tweeted that all of the wounded were adults and that the shots were fired at an alternative school called Sojourner Truth.
Television footage showed dozens of police cars and yellow caution tape on the street in front of the school.
Councilwoman Treva Reid said investigators told her the shooting may be related to rising "gang violence."
In a brief news conference, Oakland Police Chief Casey Johnson confirmed that six people were gunned down and did not answer questions.
City council member Loren Taylor, who was in front of the school, told KTVU-TV: "Weapons were on our school premises where our children were to be protected." He did not give any further details.
