DLNews Haloween 2024:
As the desert sun fades and the spooky season creeps in, La Quinta Library is tossing out tricks, treats, and a dash of delightful chaos with their “Festival of Frights: Fright at the Cinema.” On Saturday, October 26, from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, you can expect a mash-up of ghoulish fun, family-friendly frights, and maybe a few comically bad decisions (mostly involving glitter).
For all the early birds and ghostly early risers, the library's got Halloween crafts galore. Picture yourself elbow-deep in glue and glitter, crafting spooky keepsakes you’ll proudly show off on Instagram… before realizing you’ve also glued your fingers together. Don't forget the corn maze! A labyrinth of epic proportions designed to make you question your sense of direction—and possibly your life choices. But hey, at least it’s the perfect place for a spooky selfie. Also, what better way to immortalize your eerie essence than getting a caricature that screams "I’ve had too much candy"?
But let’s get to the real spooky stuff—because it’s not Halloween without a few hair-raising experiences. The Fright at the Cinema Walk-Through Maze takes the spirit of Halloween and squashes it into every twist and turn, all while paying homage to your favorite spooky flicks like Frankenweenie, Coraline, Beetlejuice, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Want to gently ease into the terror? The Non-Spooky Maze, running from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, is perfect for the faint of heart or those who scream when a doorbell rings. Feeling brave? The Spooky Maze from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM will make you reconsider all your life decisions—starting with why you ever left your house.
Between the mazes, teens get a chance to channel their inner artist (or unleash their inner disaster) at the Teen Craft session from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Need more drama? The cast of Beetlejuice Jr. will be haunting the event with a live performance, guaranteed to provide both chills and chuckles, unless of course, Beetlejuice shows up himself. (In which case, all bets are off.)
This kooky, spooky day at La Quinta Library is a guaranteed good time, with just the right balance of giggles and gasps. So grab your friends, family, and questionable fashion choices, throw on something that screams “I’m spooky, but also fabulous,” and join the fun. Just one warning: You may leave haunted—but it’ll be by the memory of how much fun you had!
