Multi-billionaire and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk (51) announced that he would be stepping down as Twitter boss. A few days earlier, he had had a poll voted on whether he should resign. 17.5 million users took part, and 57.5 percent voted for his resignation.

He wrote on Tuesday evening: "I will step down as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to do the job! After that, I will lead the software and server teams.”

Musk only said on Sunday that there was no successor and that "nobody wants the job that can keep Twitter alive." In October, he bought Twitter for a whopping $44 billion, then made a series of controversial decisions that caused chaos.

Shortly after the purchase, the native South African signaled that he did not want to hold his top position for too long. Musk runs numerous other companies, including shares in carmaker Tesla and the space company SpaceX. He had indicated that he wanted to focus more on his other companies after the takeover phase.

In just a few weeks, the formerly richest person in the world managed to plunge Twitter into a real crisis. First, he fired half the workforce; then, he is said to have ordered beds to be set up at the company's headquarters in San Francisco (California). In mid-December, Musk temporarily blocked six journalists on Twitter who had reported critically about him. He refused to pay rent for his offices and could even transfer the promised severance pay to laid-off employees.
