Mission Lakes Roads Set for Major Repairs
A major road repair project is set to begin next week in Mission Lakes, bringing long-awaited improvements to a neighborhood in the unincorporated area north of the City of Desert Hot Springs.

The Mission Lakes Area Resurfacing project will repave 25 streets totaling 5.7 miles within Mission Lakes Country Club. All of the roadways included in the project are public, county-maintained roads. They are open to the public and are not located behind gates.
The Riverside County Transportation Department planned the project to improve local road conditions while also addressing storm drainage needs in the community.

“This project will fix up a substantial number of streets in this unincorporated community, Mission Lakes Country Club,” said Supervisor V. Manuel Perez. “This roadwork is a significant improvement that will be long lasting after it’s completed.”

Construction work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. County officials said the hours were extended to help complete the work as quickly as possible. The project is estimated to take about three months to finish.
The construction work will be performed by LCR Earthwork & Engineering, Corp., which was awarded the construction contract by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.
For Mission Lakes residents and visitors, the project represents a significant infrastructure investment in a community that has relied on public roads since its development.
“This is very significant in our community’s over 50-year history that the roads are being totally re-done up here,” said Eric Charos, General Manager of the Mission Lakes Country Club. “Mission Lakes Country Club was developed with public roads and so we appreciate the attention by the County Transportation Department and by Supervisor Perez to take care of them. The coordination with our community has been outstanding. This will be a big improvement for our residents, and all who visit to golf, enjoy our restaurants and amenities with some of the best views in the valley!”
County officials said additional Mission Lakes streets east of the current project have already been identified for a future Mission Lakes Phase 2 resurfacing project.
The total project budget is about $3.3 million. Funding comes from the county’s gas tax and SB 1 transportation funds, along with Mission Springs Water District funds for work involving the district’s utilities.
