It was a modern department store, opened just under two years ago. A shopping mall that we know from every major city in the world. With clothes, decoration, and shoe shops. With food shops, cafes, ice cream parlors. A place where people meet, laugh and talk to each other. Everyday life, beautiful normality. We all know, love, and enjoy, just like the people of Kyiv.
Shopping Center before destruction
With a huge impact, this normality was pulverized and bombed away in seconds in the Ukrainian capital on Sunday evening. Putin's troops filmed their destructiveness and justified it with the fact that the Ukrainian military was allegedly using the shopping center. The video shows a massive fireball towering meter high.
Busy Shopping Center before Putin dropped its bomb
The ten-story building, the entire southern part of the mall and cars in its parking lot were destroyed—a crater several meters wide gaps in the ground. The charred remains of the building were still smoking the following day.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko proudly opened the shopping center in May 2020. Now firefighters and soldiers are looking for more victims in the rubble. The massive blast was reportedly felt across the city.
