Singer, actor, and activist Harry Belafonte has died at the age of 96. This was announced by his longtime spokesman Ken Sunshine on Tuesday.
According to the information, Belafonte died at his home on the Upper Westside in Manhattan.
The spokesman cited heart failure as the cause of death.
The singer's best-known songs included "Banana Boat Song" and "Island In The Sun." His album "Calypso" reached the top of the Billboard charts in 1956.
