An Israeli soldier carries tank ammunition on the Gaza border – will there be a ceasefire?
DLNews Gaza War:
Is Hamas finally agreeing to a ceasefire and releasing the Israeli hostages? Or is this just another tactical feint by the terrorists?
"The ball is now firmly in Benjamin Netanyahu’s court," the diplomatic source says.
Hamas reportedly wants to accept a ceasefire in the war against Israel. News agencies reported this on Monday evening. They refer to a telephone conversation between the so-called political leader of the terrorist organization, Ismail Haniyeh (62), and mediators from Qatar and Egypt. There is no statement yet from the Israeli side.
According to the American news channel "CNN," the Hamas statement said that leader Haniyeh "called Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian Intelligence Minister Abbas Kamel." During the conversation, he “informed them about Hamas’s approval of their proposal for a ceasefire agreement.”
The Israeli journalist Yonah Jeremy Bob is skeptical and asks the crucial question on X (Twitter): “Hamas may have agreed to a hostage exchange. The devil is in the details. Of course, they want a ceasefire to stop the invasion of Rafah. But will they release the hostages according to the agreed schedule?”
Because Hamas tried to sabotage a deal just at the weekend, the terrorists fired rockets at the Israeli border crossing at Kerem Shalom on Sunday, killing three Israeli soldiers. Kerem Shalom is the main border crossing for the delivery of aid from Israel to the Gaza Strip.
