“Damascus (feat. Omar Souleyman and Yasiin Bey)” is the fourth and latest track to preview the upcoming new Gorillaz studio album 'The Mountain,' out February 27 via Kong. Listen HERE.
Gorillaz - which appeared on the main stage at Coachella Festival '24 - is led by Damon Albarn (Blur). The current single was first debuted during a special performance of The Mountain at London’s Copper Box Arena last September.
The Mountain, Gorillaz’ ninth studio album, was co-produced by Gorillaz, James Ford (Arctic Monkeys) and others. It was recorded around the world and features artists performing in Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish and Yoruba. Among the collaborators are Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, IDLES, Johnny Marr, Paul Simonon, Sparks, as well as the voices of the late Bobby Womack, Dennis Hopper, The Fall's Mark E Smith, Proof and Tony Allen.
Following last year’s acclaimed London run, the gates of Kong – the fabled home of Gorillaz - will open in Downtown L.A. when the new immersive exhibition House of Kong opens for a limited 4-week run from February 26-March 19 at Rolling Greens. Exhibition tickets are on sale now.
The exhibition will be accompanied by two Gorillaz shows at the Hollywood Palladium on February 22-23. These standalone U.S. dates will see Damon Albarn and the Gorillaz live band joined onstage by special guests to perform the band’s new album The Mountain in full, from beginning to end, all under the watchful eye of Murdoc, Noodle, Russel and 2D.
