Felix Cavaliere, founder of Grammy-winning and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee The Rascals, will release his new album Then and Now via Atisha Records/Ingram Music Distribution on September 15. It comes just over a year after Cavaliere penned “Memoir of a Rascal” (Ingram Spark).
“This album came about during the pandemic, whereas I needed to really find a way to lift my spirits from not being on stage and touring,” Cavaliere said in a press release. “The ‘then’ songs are the songs that made me want to sing and play. The ‘now’ songs reflect those past influences.”
With No. 1 songs like “Good Lovin’”, “Groovin’”, “A Beautiful Morning”, “I’ve Been Lonely Too Long”, “People Got to Be Free” and “How Can I Be Sure,” The Rascals were one of the prominent ‘blue-eyed soul’ groups to come out of the 1960s.
As a solo artist, Cavaliere connected with a new generation of fans with his top 40 hit “Only A Heart Sees” in 1980, and in 2008, Cavaliere worked with Steve Cropper (Booker T and the MGs) on the Grammy-nominated “Nudge It Up a Notch.” “Then And Now” is Cavaliere’s first all-new solo studio album since 1993’s “Dreams in Motion” (MCA).
In 2019, Cavaliere was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.
