Fourteen public benches at Cathedral City Public Library were painted with art murals.
The City Council of Cathedral City will honor fifteen artists who participated in the first round of the Public Bench Beautification Project at the Cathedral City Public Library on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, starting at 8:00 am.
The beautification project, organized by the Cathedral City Public Arts Commission, requested local artists to submit designs to paint art murals on fourteen outdoor public benches surrounding the public library and one public bench at Memorial Park. More than 70 submissions were received from local artists, and the art commission and city council approved the top fifteen. Those fifteen benches are nearly completed and will be showcased and recognized at the event.
Each artist will also receive a $1,000 stipend from the public art fund for painting the murals.
