Cinemark’s Billion-Dollar Blockbuster
The popcorn was hot, the auditoriums were packed and Cinemark’s cash registers delivered a Hollywood ending of their own.
The theater giant reported $1.086 billion in worldwide revenue for the second quarter of 2026, breaking the billion-dollar mark for the first time in company history. Revenue jumped 15.5% from $940.5 million during the same quarter last year, proving that the big screen still knows how to put on a show.
Cinemark welcomed 63.7 million moviegoers during the three months ending June 30. Those crowds produced record admissions revenue of $540 million and an all-time high of $433.3 million in concession revenue. Apparently, audiences were not only buying tickets—they were arriving hungry.
The company reported $139.4 million in net income attributable to Cinemark, compared with $93.5 million one year earlier. Diluted earnings climbed from 63 cents to $1.19 per share, while adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization reached a company-record $294 million.
Cinemark credited a strong movie lineup, premium screens, luxury recliners and expanded food and beverage options for the blockbuster quarter. Movie collectibles also became serious business. Limited-edition popcorn containers and merchandise connected to major releases helped produce the company’s best merchandise sales ever.
Its loyalty program provided another crowd-pleasing plot twist. Cinemark Movie Club surpassed 1.5 million members, and those subscribers generated approximately 30% of the company’s domestic box-office revenue during the quarter. Since Movie Club launched, members have purchased more than 200 million tickets.
The success story reaches directly into the Coachella Valley. Cinemark operates Cinemark Century at The River and XD at 71-800 Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage, along with Cinemark Century La Quinta XD and ScreenX at 46-800 Washington Street in La Quinta.
Both theaters offer luxury loungers and upgraded concessions. Rancho Mirage features Cinemark XD, while La Quinta adds ScreenX and motion-equipped D-BOX seating to its premium menu.
Across its full circuit, Cinemark operates nearly 500 theaters and more than 5,500 screens in 14 countries.
Streaming may own the couch, but Cinemark’s record quarter suggests that audiences still want the giant screen, booming sound, reclining seat—and a popcorn bucket large enough to deserve its own agent.
