Since his passing at the age of 70 on July 30, actor Paul Reubens — best known for creating and portraying the character of Pee-wee Herman — has been honored by countless friends and fans around the world. However, there is likely no bigger tribute to the beloved star than the Mr. Rex standing tall at the Cabazon Dinosaurs roadside attraction in nearby Cabazon, CA.
"Pee-wee lives on, just the way he would have wanted...with love, laughter and kindness," reads the tribute, in part, on the Cabazon Dinosaurs website (found HERE).
Mr. Rex's tribute to Pee-wee Herman will remain on display through October 2023.
Reubens debuted a stage show starring the character of Pee-wee in 1981. Pee-wee became an instant favorite of audiences, and the character was featured in the 1985 classic flick "Pee-wee's Big Adventure"; a segment of the movie was filmed at the Cabazon Dinosaurs attraction.
Reubens' Pee-wee Herman character has remained popular with both children and adults for more than 40 years, and on the afternoon of Aug. 4, 2023 when this writer stopped to see the tribute a number of fans were at Cabazon Dinosaurs paying respect to the late Reubens.
