According to ESPN information, Tom Brady (45) has bought into the Las Vegas Raiders. The former quarterback superstar thus becomes co-owner of the franchise.
The NFL, the Raiders, and Brady's advisor Don Yee declined to comment.
How significant Brady's stake in the Raiders will become has yet to be discovered. The franchise is valued at $5.1 billion.
However: At least 24 of the 32 owners of the NFL teams must vote for it.
Brady had not played for the Raiders in his career. He only played for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In recent weeks, however, he had already bought into the city's basketball team, the Las Vegas Aces. So now another team with owner Mark Davis.
Why Las Vegas, of all places?
Brady is a big fan of the city. Time and again, he has paid a visit there recently. Most recently, the NFL legend was on site on March 4 at a UFC event. Because of his relationship with Las Vegas, there had also been speculation that Brady would play for the Raiders next season. To that end, the head coach is Josh McDaniels, his former offensive coordinator.
So now Brady is the boss of his former coach.
