DLNews Attention Palm Springs Residents and Visitors:
We are excited to announce the commencement of the rehabilitation project for the historic Plaza Theatre, a significant endeavor to revitalize a cherished city landmark. This project, officially designated City Project No. 18-01, has been entrusted to Woodcliff Corporation by the City of Palm Springs.
Location: Plaza Theatre, 128 S Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262.
Project Overview:
The rehabilitation work will encompass a comprehensive overhaul of the theatre, including seismic upgrades, interior and exterior enhancements, the introduction of a new bar and concessions area, installation of modern theater seats alongside wheelchair-accessible seating, restoration of historically significant atmospheric sidewalls, preservation of historic finishes, updates to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (MEPs), and an expansion of the stage area.
Construction Timeline:
The project will start on March 4, 2024, and run through mid-2025. Construction activities will occur from Monday to Friday between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Parking and Traffic Advisory:
In anticipation of the impact on local traffic and parking, we wish to inform you of the following measures:
- "NO PARKING" signs will be prominently displayed within work zones at least 72 hours in advance should any parking spaces be impacted.
- In recognition of the premium on downtown parking, efforts will be made to limit the presence of construction vehicles and to use the rear of the building for deliveries and pickups.
We understand the inconvenience of such projects and are committed to minimizing disruptions. The cooperation and understanding of the community are invaluable as we endeavor to enhance the Plaza Theatre for the enjoyment of future generations. We pledge to maintain open lines of communication and to work diligently to mitigate the impact of construction activities on your daily lives.
Please get in touch with the City of Palm Springs or Woodcliff Corporation directly for any concerns or queries. We look forward to the successful completion of this project and the many benefits it will bring to our city.
Thank you for your patience and support as we work to preserve and improve our community's cultural heritage.
