Hello Friends & Neighbors: September brings many exciting things to our community!
This month's message will entice your cultural senses for what's on the horizon here in Rancho Mirage! Our upcoming season is nothing short of spectacular, like the lineups for the 2023 Broadway musical series and youth theatre. In addition, a beloved City signature event emerges from the pandemic with a contemporary new look and design!
September is also full of national holidays and observances - far too many for me to mention. Although National Chianti Day (9/2/22) and National Butterscotch Pudding day (9/19/22) are both important days to celebrate for some of us, I chose to focus on a couple of others that I feel have a specific impact on our entire community.
There's something for everyone here in Rancho Mirage, so keep reading to find out what we have in store for you.
It seemed like just yesterday when we were all raving about Desert Theatricals' 2022 season of fantastic performances of Mamma Mia!, Annie Get Your Gun, and a Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
We are already heading into the 2023 Broadway Musical Series under the stars, with ticket sales beginning October 1st!
The Youth Theatre Program is sponsored by the Rancho Mirage Library & Observatory Foundation, funded through a generous gift from the Richard Brooke Foundation, produced by Desert Theatricals, and hosted at the City's amphitheater and at the Library. This is the perfect example of how collaboration and partnerships make a successful program like this.
Past youth theatre performances of Seussical, Little Mermaid, James and the Giant Peach, and Alice in Wonderland leave me excited for what's next in their upcoming season!
I know that auditions for the next Disney's Aladdin Jr. will take place at the Rancho Mirage Library on September 6 and 7, 2022, for ages 7-17 for all roles for performances on November 19 and 20, 2022 at the Rancho Mirage Amphitheater.
