Tell me more: "The Tin Star" ranks as one of the great Westerns of the 1950s. Directed by Anthony Mann ("Winchester '73," "The Far Country") and starring Henry Fonda and Anthony Perkins, "The Tin Star [Limited Edition]" is an essential new reissue of the 1957 classic film available via high definition (1080p) Blu-ray with enhanced audio (including lossless mono audio, and optional 2.0 stereo and 5.1 surround audio).
An especially compelling Oscar-nominated story, outstanding performances from every member of the cast, a brilliant score from composer Elmer Bernstein and strikingly creative direction from Mann combine for an immersive beautiful black-and-white film that will appeal to fans of both classic and modern-day Westerns.
Bounty hunter Morg Hickman (masterfully played by Fonda) rolls into a small frontier town that he recognizes has a population paralyzed by fear. Young Ben Owens (convincingly played by Perkins in his first-ever starring role) is the new young sheriff recruited to fill the vacancy after the previous local sheriff was killed. Bart Bogardus (played by actor Neville Brand of "Riot in Cell Block 11" fame) is a town bully and is forcefully testing Owens' ability to bring law and order to the town. Things take a dramatic turn when Hickman — a former sheriff — works with Owens to assert himself just as a myriad of other challenges emerge that must be faced by both men.
