Stern message to Hamas! The future U.S. President Donald Trump is calling on the terrorists in Gaza to release the hostages before he takes office on January 20th. Otherwise, "all hell will break loose in the Middle East and for those who committed these atrocities," Trump wrote on Monday in his online service Truth Social.
"Those responsible will be hit harder than anyone has ever been hit in the long and storied history of the United States of America."
In capital letters, Donald Trump added: "Release the hostages now."
Around 100 hostages are still in the clutches of Hamas
The administration under Joe Biden has been trying for months to reach an agreement between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire and the release of the hostages. So far, without success.
On October 7, 2023, members of Hamas and other terrorist groups killed around 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped more than 250 others. More than a year later, many of the approximately 100 hostages still held are probably no longer alive. Among them are several people who, besides Israeli, also have German or US citizenship.
On Monday, the Israeli army declared another hostage dead. The Israeli soldier, who was 21 years old at the time of his kidnapping, was murdered during the attack on October 7, and his body has been lying in Gaza since then.
