“Raising Hay” Returns to La Quinta to Support Rescued Horses
INDIO, CA — The Coachella Valley Horse Rescue (CVHR) is saddling up for its 3rd Annual “Raising Hay” fundraiser on Saturday, November 15, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the scenic J & J Ranch, 58300 Almonte Drive in La Quinta. This beloved local event promises an evening of western charm, community spirit, and heartfelt purpose — raising funds to give abandoned and neglected horses a second chance at life.

Guests will enjoy light appetizers as the silent auction opens at 3:30 p.m., featuring an impressive array of prizes — from Taylor Swift memorabilia to local concert tickets, spa and restaurant gift certificates, golf packages, and even a Coachella Valley Firebirds fan bundle including tickets, a jersey, and a hockey stick. At 4:30 p.m., Croux & Co. Catering will serve a hearty barbecue dinner with vegetarian and vegan options, followed by line dancing, DJ music, and a touching veterans tribute. The evening also includes a hosted bar offering beer, wine, and margaritas.

All proceeds will benefit CVHR’s rescue and rehabilitation programs at its Indio facility, where 14 horses currently receive daily care and nourishment from devoted volunteers. Over the years, CVHR has helped more than 100 horses heal from abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Last year’s event raised over $60,000; this year’s goal is $80,000 — enough to cover first-quarter 2026 expenses, including hay, feed, veterinary and dental care, hoof trimming, supplements, and specialized rehabilitation equipment. Funds will also support scholarships for CVHR’s equine-assisted programs for veterans, youth, and community wellness.
The event is made possible through the generosity of presenting sponsor John K. Miller of Premier Real Estate Group and supporters including LynneMarie Weigert, Cheryl Curran, Contour Dermatology, Red Jeep Tours, MEP Energy Solutions Group, Tiffany Welch in honor of DCFN Lucus Leslie Welch of the U.S. Navy, and others.
Advance tickets are $100 per person through November 7 at cvhorserescue.org/fundraiser or $125 at the door. For will-call tickets, contact Linda Dondero at (310) 529-7000. Every dollar raised — from tickets to merchandise — goes directly to the rescue.
CVHR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abused and abandoned horses, as well as providing equine-assisted programs that bring healing to veterans, children, and families. Donations can be made at cvhorserescue.org/donate or mailed to CVHR, P.O. Box 809, Indio, CA 92202.
