GEORGE ROBERTSON WAS 89 YEARS OLD
Robertson became best known as Inspector Henry Hurst in the first six films of the "Police Academy" series.
According to his family, he died on January 29 in a clinic in Toronto, Canada. The family did not share further details, such as the cause of death. "He leaves behind a legacy of many accomplishments," relatives said in an obituary.
The actor also had more minor roles in other productions. Among them were three films that were also nominated for an Oscar in the best picture category: "Airport" (1970), "Norma Rae - A Woman Stands Her Ground" (1979), and "JFK - Dallas Crime Scene" (1991). Robertson made his feature film debut in 1968 with "Rosemary's Baby."
The last time he was in front of the camera was in 2017 for the TV movie "Cradle to Grave" - at the age of 83!
The actor is survived by his wife Adele, daughter Sarah Robertson, and grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He had already met his wife at the university and married her for 61 years.
A memorial service for Robertson is to be held in late March.
