Some sad news to bring to you this morning.

Bobi, the oldest dog ever known, lived a peaceful and content life as a guard dog on a farm in Conqueiros village for 31 years. Converted to human years, he was 217 years old and even made it to the Guinness World Records. Although he has passed away, we can all be inspired by his peaceful living and longevity legacy.

Bobi died at the age of 31 years and 165 days.

Rafeiro do Alentejo was born on May 11, 1992, when Costa was eight. The Portuguese government's pet database confirms the animal's advanced age.

Bobi was born with three siblings. According to Costa, his parents intended to have all four puppies euthanized because they already had too many animals on the farm. However, little Bobi narrowly escaped death.

 Bobi and his master have lived together on the farm on the Portuguese west coast since 1992.

Costa and his brothers kept the existence of their dog, Bobi, a secret from their parents until it was eventually discovered. Bobi quickly became a part of the family, even eating the same food as them. The peaceful environment in which Bobi lived was a critical factor in his longevity.

Throughout his life, the dog was always surrounded by other animals. His mother lived to be 18 years old, and another dog in the family lived to be 22 years old. As he got older, he found himself living with four cats.

In 2018, the dog suffered a scare when he collapsed due to breathing problems and had to be taken to the vet. In the last few months, he struggled with walking and had poor eyesight.

In February, Guinness World Records declared Bobi, a Portuguese dog, as the oldest dog in the world. Bobi's age was confirmed to be 30 years and 266 days, making him the most senior dog ever. Before Bobi, the record was held by the Australian Cattle Dog Bluey, who passed away in 1939 at 29 years and five months. Bobi was 31 and 165 days old at his death, and no successor has yet been discovered.
