DLNews Jackpot:
$2 billion jackpot cracked
In February 2023, Edwin Castro (31) suddenly became a billionaire: He had cracked the record-breaking Powerball jackpot of two billion dollars!
He wasn't the only winner, but Castro collected almost one billion dollars (997.6 million) from this jackpot.
And the 31-year-old has successfully distributed some of this money to the people! He became a passionate car collector. For example, he recently purchased five cars: two old Porsches and three old Volkswagens.
His latest purchase is a green Porsche 356 from the 60s and a black Porsche 911 from the 70s.
He also bought three Volkswagen Karmann Ghias, two black and one red.
He also owns a white Porsche 911 from the 70s and a gray Ram 1500 TRX, a 711-horsepower truck.
Castro also developed a passion for expensive houses after winning the lottery:
He owns a $25 million home in the Hollywood Hills.
He also bought a $40 million mansion in Bel Air.
His latest purchase is a four-million-dollar mansion in the Los Angeles area.
Stately villa in Bel Air: The lottery lucky guy bought this property for 40 million dollars.
Castro's life changed suddenly when he bought the winning ticket at a gas station in Los Angeles last year.
In February, the 31-year-old came forward to claim the winnings from last November's 2022 $2.04 billion drawing - and settled for the lump sum of $997.6 million.
He wanted to remain unknown - but California law thwarted his plans. Because: In California, lottery winners must publish their full name – whether they want to or not.
Castro wrote in a statement at the time of his win: "As much as I am shocked and thrilled to have won the Powerball drawing, the real winner is the California public school system. Because California public schools are the beneficiaries of the state lottery.”
The comparison may need to be revised, especially from a newly minted lottery billionaire...
