Cynthia DiMaria works out of her home in Desert Hot Springs during the Pandemic. "The Covid-19 has been a soul-searching time for me. To keep my sanity, I paint. It makes my time pass faster and helps me to stay stress-free. I am a visual artist through painting and video. The Pandemic has inspired this block of work. In one of my paintings, I show a couple in a colorful environment with nice lines and geometry, wearing their masks. The entities are awkward in structure, and they are confused on how to communicate with each other, exemplifying how we feel now.
These paintings are an expression of this period in our history. I am an environmental artist, and all my art supplies are recyclables. Some of my favorite artists are Kostabi, Caravaggio, Banksy, Warhol, Bruce Weber, Guy Fribritti, and Shaw and Diane Arbus. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Atlanta, and New Orleans."
