DLNews Shooting:
Professor († 67) went on a killing spree after failing to get a job at the University.
He roamed the university building with a firearm and killed three people. According to US investigators, the Las Vegas killer was a professor named Anthony Polito († 67).
Police combed every building after the shooter's death; all students and staff had to line up with their hands up and run outside.
He had previously applied for a job at the University of Nevada. On Wednesday, he took up arms and murdered three members of staff at the University. A fourth victim was seriously injured and taken to hospital. The police have not yet confirmed whether the job rejection was the motive for the murder.
Polito stormed several floors and fired shots repeatedly - a central alarm was triggered. Then, 40 minutes after the warning about the "active shooter," the news: the killer is dead! He died in a gunfight with two university police officers.

There could have been countless other victims."
If the emergency services had not killed the professor, "there could have been countless other victims," said Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill. Thirty thousand students are at the University of Nevada - it is unclear how many were on campus during the attack.
Professor Kevaney Martin sought shelter under a desk with students during the attack. "I tried to pull myself together for my students and not cry; I never want to experience those feelings again," she said.
The attack shocked students, the University, and their families.
A student named Matthew Felsenfeld (21) said he barricaded himself in a building on campus with about twelve fellow students: "It's that moment when you call your parents and tell them you love them."
Classes at the University were canceled until Friday. US President Joe Biden (81) expressed his shock at the attack. In a statement, he condemned the latest "horrific act of gun violence" and once again called for stricter US gun laws.
Las Vegas was the scene of one of the most severe gun attacks in the USA in 2017. Back then, 60 people were killed at a music festival.
