American actor Alan Arkin died on Thursday at the age of 89. According to US magazine Variety, he passed away peacefully at his home in Carlsbad, California.

Arkin's sons Adam, Matthew, and Anthony said in a joint statement: "Our father was a uniquely gifted force of nature, both as an artist and a person. As a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was cherished and will be greatly missed.”
Alan Arkin already had a star on Hollywood Boulevard.
Arkin has been in show business for over 70 years. He made a career for himself on the big screen, television, and theater stage. He even received an Oscar in 2007 for his role as Grandpa Edwin in the drama "Little Miss Sunshine"; in 1969, he received the Tony Award for his theater performances.
He has already been nominated four times for the coveted Hollywood award: for his role as Lester Siegel, alongside Ben Affleck (50) in the blockbuster "Argo," for "The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming" a year in 1967 and for The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter in 1969.
Even in old age, the famous entertainer was still in front of the camera. Together with Michael Douglas (78), for example, he was seen in the Netflix series "The Kominsky Method." His TV appearances earned him several Emmy Award nominations.
