Kim Jong-un (39) is said to have targeted military targets in South Korea in new photos from North Korea.
DLNews Staff:
IS KIM JONG-UN PLANNING AN ATTACK?
North Korea's propaganda machine has heavily criticized the US military exercises with South Korea and Japan - even speaking of an impending nuclear war.
Here, the dictator explains his latest war plans.
The Pyongyang-controlled media said the US had held "war exercises for aggression" in the region several times since the beginning of the year, despite warnings from the Kim regime. The drills would "take the security situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of nuclear war," according to an article written by Choe Ju-Hyon, an "international security analyst," according to Kim's KCNA news agency.
According to the South Korean military, North Korea fired a nuclear-capable missile with a range of probably thousands of kilometers toward the open sea on Thursday.
The general staff in Seoul announced the launch on Thursday near the capital Pyongyang. As a result, the missile flew at a steep launch angle of about 1000 kilometers toward the East Sea, where it fell into the water.
Explosive: Japan initially asked the residents of the northern island of Hokkaido to seek protection because of the rocket launch.
Expert warns of "arms race in East Asia - with an uncertain outcome."
Hardly a day goes by WITHOUT a North Korean missile launch. Here you can see: a test at the end of March.
The fact is: that the conflict with North Korea is currently getting worse and worse! Because the internationally totally isolated Kim dictatorship has been increasing the number of its tests with nuclear-capable missiles and cruise missiles since last year.
For their part, the United States and South Korea resumed full-scale joint military exercises. Both countries have denied North Korea's accusation that their maneuvers were in preparation for an attack. Nothing new under the sun: Kim Jong-un is not impressed. On the contrary, North Korea has repeatedly threatened the United States and South Korea with a nuclear strike because of their maneuvers.
In South Korea itself, however, people remain calm. Local experts agree, "The aggressive rhetoric is hardly noticed here in South Korea and made few headlines. People have lived with these political tensions for decades. Therefore, nobody seriously expects an attack.”
However, no one expected a Russian attack on Ukraine...
A powder keg that could explode at any moment."
North Korean pro-Party commentator Choe Ju-Hyon also criticized Japan's exercise involvement. Most recently, the US naval forces undertook joint anti-submarine training with South Korea and Japan.
Kim is repeatedly shown inspecting the North Korean arsenal of weapons.
The "wild military exercises by the US and its vassal forces have turned the Korean peninsula into a large time bomb that could explode at any moment," it said.
Is Kim Jong Un planning an attack?
The American North Korean portal "NK News" analyzes the new images from North Korea and concludes that the dictator has targeted military targets in South Korea and presented "frontline" attack plans at a military meeting.
The conflict with North Korea will also be an issue during Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock's (42, Greens) trip to East Asia. The Green politician first arrived in China on Thursday. She will travel to South Korea on Saturday and Sunday to the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Japan.
Kim wants more “offensive” war deterrence.
Kim attended a meeting of the Central Military Commission on Monday to discuss how to deal with "escalating steps" by the US and South Korea to "unleash a war of aggression," Kim's news agency KCNA reported on Tuesday.
North Korea's rulers have also ordered the country's deterrence capabilities to be increased at an "accelerating pace" and in "more practical and offensive" ways. What does that mean exactly? This needs to be clarified!
