DLNews 2024 Election:
"Will there be a Madam President in the White House?"
Survey Shock for Biden AND Trump
Polls have shown for months that two-thirds of US voters want President Joe Biden (81) to move out of the White House after the election in November 2024. Almost as many (60 percent) hope former President Donald Trump (77) will not move back in. But so far, there doesn't seem to be anyone who can stop them, apart from one woman: Nikki Haley (51).
Wants to be the Republican presidential candidate: Nikki Haley.
"She's the only one who can take the Republican nomination away from Trump," said 2008 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney (76) on Monday. Meanwhile, the Boston Herald wrote of the primary: "Nikki Haley would beat Biden in a landslide."
She is now neck-and-neck nationally (11 percent) with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (45), who has slipped from 24 percent. In the US state of New Hampshire, one of the first two states to vote for the Republican candidate in January, she is even ahead of DeSantis (7 percent) with 18 percent.

Therefore, the former governor of South Carolina is Trump's most dangerous opponent - even if she is still far behind him. Concerning the main elections, the Republicans would be well advised to send a woman into the race for the first time. A survey by the Wall Street Journal has just revealed that while Trump has a four percent lead (47 to 43) over Biden, Haley would virtually destroy the Democrat with 51 to 34 percent!
Why Haley is ahead against Biden
Why would the Republicans have such a more accessible game against Biden in the central elections than against Trump in the primaries? The online portal "Politico" has two explanations: Women and swing voters.
Trump leads against Biden among men with 13 percent. Biden, on the other hand, is ahead among women with four percent. However, Haley would beat Biden among both men and women.
What speaks for Haley
Unlike Trump, Haley could take a lot of undecided voters away from Biden, who sometimes vote Republican, sometimes Democrat. The reason is that Haley is a moderate conservative. She takes a hard line when it comes to China, Russia, and Iran. She toes the Trump line on trade. But she is committed to NATO and Europe and is the most tolerant candidate in her party when it comes to the heated abortion debate.
Haley is 30 years younger than Biden and Trump and yet experienced. Her career began in 2005 when she was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives. She then took on government responsibility as governor from 2011 to 2017. This was followed by two years as Trump's UN ambassador, during which she was active on the international stage.
While only 5 percent of Republicans think it is essential for America to have a female president, 31 percent of Democrats do. Here, too, Haley could take more votes away from Biden than Trump.
She has the best backers. The Koch brothers' network (oil) has already raised 70 million dollars for the Republican primaries.
According to a new Reuters study, Trump is 50 percent ahead of Haley. However, the TV debates show she is determined to go her way.
