DLNews Entertainment:
It's going to be gory, scary, and sexed.
At the end of the year, Netflix will again bring out some highlights. The long wait for the cold season was worth it for film and series fans.
Whether it's a wickedly expensive blockbuster ("Knives Out") or a wickedly kinky love drama ("Lady Chatterley's Lover"): In winter, there's no lack of anything.
We present the streaming highlights in December that you shouldn't miss!
A Fantasy Treat: Witcher Blood Origin
No witcher this year? Not quite. Instead of continuing the super-successful "Witcher" series with Henry Cavill, Netflix is launching the spin-off "Blood Origin" to expand the fantasy world with the witcher Geralt.
Henry Cavill as Witcher Geralt is sitting out this year, but there are "Witcher" replenishments
Is the "House of the Dragon" effect coming? Blood Origin" also tells a prequel - that of the first sorcerer. But the series is supposed to have only four episodes, so it'll be through faster than a bard's serenade with larkspur.
- After James Bond comes “Knives Out”: Daniel Craig, as a detective, is once again investigating a star-studded murder case
Start: December 25
The $450 million movie: "Knives Out 2: Glass Onion."
In early 2020, "Knives Out" became a box office sensation. Netflix couldn't resist and secured the rights to the Cluedo-like crime thriller for a lot of money (almost half a billion dollars) to exclusively stream the sequel. And, of course, more parts soon.
Back in the game: ex-Bond Daniel Craig as sleuth Benoit Blanc.
If part two is anything as good as its predecessor, we're in for another real movie treat, albeit this time only on the sofa.
Start: December 23
Carved from hardwood: "Pinocchio
Another Pinocchio? A few months ago, Disney released its live-action remake of the animated classic (based on Carlo Collodi's children's book) starring Tom Hanks. So is the next "sausage" already coming? Not at all, because there has probably never been an adaptation like this before.
It was directed by none other than creepy friend Guillermo del Toro ("Pan's Labyrinth," "Shape of Water"), who conceived his "Pinocchio" as a horror adventure for adults. Fully animated in stop motion and darker than ever.
Start: December 9
The Sinful Sex Sensation: "Lady Chatterley's Lover"
If all this is not enough to warm you up, you should find it here at the latest. The new streaming sin starts today, Friday, when a bored, married woman from a wealthy family falls for a game warden. A forbidden love that knows no class boundaries and no prudery.
Emma Corrin, who played the younger Lady Diana in the Royals hit The Crown, stars.
Emma Corrin and Jack O'Connell make for hot hours
Start: December 2
Something bigger for a change: "Troll
Attention to the danger of confusion: "Troll" doesn't have much in common with the brightly colored animated film "Trolls." The Norwegian monster cracker turns a troll into a quasi-Godzilla and unleashes it on civilization in oversized form.
It sounds crazy, and that's what it looks like in the trailer. The only question is whether it wouldn't be even better off on the big screen...
Start: online since December 1
And something for the heart: "Emily in Paris."
Emily is in Paris again. And that again means a lot of love and chaos, as you know from the young American.
Lilly Collins as Paris immigrant Emily
Start: December 21.
It is the third season of the romantic series, not a matter of course on Netflix. And a good sign that the popular show will continue to exist.
