"Our hearts are completely broken," the girl's family said. "We can't believe something like this happened. Evelyn was a shining light in this world.”
Audrey Hale fired at the oncoming police officers.
Flashback: Around 9:54 a.m. Monday morning, Audrey Hale pulled her gray Honda Fit into the parking lot at Covenant Christian Elementary School in Nashville. The place she used to visit herself as a student.

At 9:57 a.m., the gunman sent a message to her former classmate Averianna Patton on Instagram: "I plan to die today. THAT'S NO JOKE. You'll probably hear about me on the news after I die."

The police received the first emergency call at 10:13 a.m. About eight minutes later, Audrey Hale fired at the arriving officers from a second-story window. A quarter of an hour passed between the first emergency call and the gunman's death. Minutes in which Audrey Hale still managed to destroy the lives of Evelyn and countless other people.
