A student at NYU, Barron has earned a reputation among his classmates as the friendly and laid-back “bro” on campus. Soon, he’ll also have the iconic Trump Tower all to himself, as his parents take on their new roles in Washington.
In a candid conversation with Fox News, Melania, now 54, reflected on her role as both mother and mentor. “We teach them and guide them,” she said thoughtfully. “And then we give them wings to fly.” For Barron, that means staying in New York, pursuing his education, and navigating life as a young adult.
Melania has always been fiercely protective of her son, often keeping him out of the spotlight during Trump’s first term. She spent much of that time by his side in Manhattan or at Mar-a-Lago. But since Barron officially became an adult on March 20, 2024, the dynamics have shifted. Now, he’s making his own choices—like where to live and what to study—and Melania couldn’t be prouder.
“It was his decision to study in New York and to live in his home,” she shared. “I always respect it when Barron says ‘yes’ or ‘no’ or expresses what he wants to do and where he wants to be.”
Though her role as First Lady will demand much of her time, Melania is confident that Barron will remain connected to his family. “He’ll visit us in Washington,” she said with a smile. And while she’s preparing for the exciting challenges ahead, she made it clear that her son’s independence doesn’t mean she’s stepping back completely. “If I’m needed in New York, I’ll be there. If I’m needed in Palm Beach, I’ll be in Palm Beach.”
For Barron, this next chapter is a chance to step out on his own while still staying deeply connected to his family. And for Melania, it’s a time to balance her many roles—with a focus on nurturing her son’s growth while stepping into her responsibilities with grace and determination.
