The winners of the 80th 2023 Golden Globe awards
The 80th "Golden Globe Awards" were presented in Beverly Hills on Tuesday evening. The gala began with a cheeky intro from the man who led the evening: comedian Jerrod Carmichael (35) made fun of the event.
He began his welcome speech with the words: "I'm your host Jerrod Carmichael, and I'm going to tell you why I'm here ... because I'm black." But unfortunately, he only accepted the moderator's job because of the $500,000 fee.
Background: In 2021, the "Golden Globe Awards" was heavily criticized. Because: In 78 years, there was no black person on the jury. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association then announced that it would add at least 20 new members in 2021, mostly blacks. For the first time in the award ceremony's history, a black man was signed as the host, with comedian Carmichael.
After the 35-year-old let loose a few more jabs at the organizers in his opening monologue, he ended his speech forgivingly: "Regardless of the history of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, this is a night to celebrate. And I think this industry deserves evenings like this. And I'm glad you're all here. And I hope you have a great time tonight!”
The Golden Globes honor the best cinema productions and television programs of the year. The award ceremony is considered trend-setting for the Oscars.
The winners
