As the giant with the giant heart, he simply enchanted everyone.
His death leaves "Harry Potter" actors and fans of the magical film series in great mourning. Robbie Coltrane, best known as the warm-hearted movie giant Hagrid, died at 72. According to his agent, the Scottish actor died Friday in a hospital near his home in Larbert.
Robbie Coltrane took the fan and cast hearts by storm as Hagrid.
He quickly became a fan favorite in the "Harry Potter" films with his role as Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid, who always looked after wizard student Harry and his friends.
Emma Watson played Hermione Granger in the film series, Daniel Radcliffe (m.) rose to fame as Harry Potter, and Rupert Grint portrayed Ron Weasley (r.). They posed together here in 2002 with Hagrid actor Robbie Coltrane.
One by one, his colleagues say goodbye and reveal Coltrane and Hagrid's similarities. Coltrane kept his recent acting colleagues together like a family, caring touchingly for Daniel Radcliffe (33, Harry Potter), Emma Watson (32, Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint (34, Ron Weasley), just like his movie character.
Emma's lines, which she shared on her Instagram story, are incredibly heartfelt: "Robbie was the funniest uncle I ever had, but most of all, he was very caring and compassionate to me as a child and as an adult. In addition, his talent was so huge that it made sense for him to play a giant."
Emma also explained how much she "adores and admires" him and "will miss him."
She continued, "I will really miss your sweetness, nicknames, warmth, laughter, and hugs. You made us a family. We know that's what you were to us."Emma's co-stars also bid a fond farewell to the movie giant. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) recalls, "He was an incredible actor and lovely person."
He also shares a little anecdote from the film set, "I particularly fondly remember how he kept us entertained during the filming of 'Prisoner of Azkaban' when we hid for hours from the torrential rain in Hagrid's hut, and he told us stories and cracked jokes."
Rupert Grint (Ron) also shares very emotional words about the actor, "My heart is broken. But, I'll never forget the smell of cigars and beard glue - a wonderful combination."
Actor Robbie Coltrane remains unforgotten as the clumsy, lovable giant.
For him, it's clear: "No one else on this planet could have played Hagrid." He also confirms that, like his movie character Hagrid, Robbie was "warm, sensitive and so funny" and "a man with a giant heart."
And as a giant with a giant heart, he will be forever remembered by all ...
