Desert Hot Springs, CA. -Sensei and Professor Eddie Bates is the owner of Kihon MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Bates martial arts school in DHS is a powerhouse with nearly 150 students, kids making up most of the students. The youngsters are some of the most remarkable and unique individuals you'll ever meet. Amongst those fantastic people are five young lady athletes who earned the right to compete in Abu Dhabi on August 15th, 2022.
The competition in Abu Dhabi is 'The World Championships of Pankration,' a youth cage fighting event where the best athletes come to compete and claim the right to be the world's best. Last year there were only nine qualified female athletes in the USA. The Kihon MMA dojo trained 4 of those ladies that went to the world championship in Sofia, Bulgaria.
They were winning 1 World title, one silver, and two bronze medals. In 2018 the school took two lady athletes to the competition. That brought home gold and silver medals. Bates female youth athletes are some of the most fierce, intelligent, and talented people on this planet.
The five athletes attending in Abu Dhabi are Andrea Frisque, 17 yrs.; Allison Enos Keenan, 17 yrs; Citlali Perez, 16 yrs; Madeline Meza, 13; and Hannah Wagstaff, 15 yrs.
Andrea Frisque is the pioneer of the five ladies. Andrea Frisque has won 3 National titles
Silver at Worlds Italy 2018, and Silver at Worlds Bulgaria 2021. She is on the hunt for her 1st world title. Andrea is also an Honor student, wrestler, and track and field athlete at DHS High School. Including being an active leader in her community.
Allison Enos Keenan is going on her second year of competing. Allison has two silver medal finishes at US Nationals and placed 2nd in Bulgaria in 2021. Allison is a student-athlete as well, with a 3.50 GPA.
Hannah Wagstaff. She was the 2021 world champion in Bulgaria. Hannah has two US Nationals silver place finishes. She is a pillar to her community and a role model to many youths.
Madeline Meza is the youngest at 13 yrs old. She took Silver at her first US Nationals. This will be her first World Championship. Madeline is a student-athlete with a 3.0 GPA.
Citlali Perez is our 155 lb US National silver medalist 2022. Citlali is headed to her first World competition. Citlali is an Honor Student and soccer player at DHS High School.
All five lady athletes are students, role models, and athletes. They are known well in their community and even by their local congressman. They have made a positive impression in their community by achieving goals and overcoming challenging obstacles.
Bates team is asking for your help to send these outstanding students, athletes, martial artists, and role models to Abu Dhabi to fight to be the best in the world. These young ladies will be running our great United States of America one day.
The competition starts on August 15th, 2022. They have five weeks to achieve their goal.
